How to help
Are you passionate about dogs and have love, time, and/or skills to share? Join us in making a difference! We offer various opportunities, such as: shelter upkeep, flight angels for adopted dogs, and fundraising events. There's something for everyone.
Ways to Volunteer:
Fundraising Outreach events
Airport Pet Area upkeep (refill bags, clean bowl, etc) Must be able to get yourself to/from airport
Shelter Assistance (cleaning, maintenance, vehicle required to get to shelter, no public transportation available)
Flight Angel for dog needing to travel - Go here to learn more- https://www.adogsnewlife.org/flightangels
AIRport Pet Area
We go weekly to make sure that the pet area is clean and looks good for the visitors with pups. If you have transportation or are good with using the bus, this is something that takes 10 minutes and is a huge help.
fundraising outreach events
Join our amazing Fundraising Group and attend events throughout the season in the Bay of Banderas area. These events help fund the ongoing needs of our dogs and contribute to the expansion of our shelter. During these events, we share information about the rescue's mission, explain how to become a flight angel, how to adopt, sell merchandise, and, at some events, showcase puppies with the hope of finding them loving homes or foster care.
Dog walking
Dog Walking Safety Policy
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who wants to support our dogs — your compassion means the world. However, for safety reasons, we do not allow new dog walkers at this time. Only volunteers who have already walked dogs at least five times with our team may continue to do so.
Many of our dogs are strong, reactive, or recovering from trauma, and the walking path is uneven, rocky, and physically demanding. To protect both our animals and our volunteers, we must ensure that anyone walking dogs is already familiar with the terrain, physically strong, and familiar with the behavior of our dogs. Supportive shoes are required. *Sandals and flipflops are not allowed.
Complete the application and be a part of our mission to help dogs in need. Our coordinator will contact you and set up a rewarding experience. Please be patient, our coordinator is also a volunteer and will contact you as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT: The shelter is outside public transportation limits, so alternative transportation is required. To protect the animals, our address is not publicly disclosed—this helps prevent dogs from being abandoned after hours. When possible, we help coordinate volunteer drivers.
Volunteer at the Marival to share about fostering and adoption.
