Our Volunteers

Our mission continues with the help of multiple people who volunteer at the rescue shelter, at fundraising events, and who are instrumental in finding homes for the dogs. We rely on many people and are extremely grateful every hour, every effort, and every heart involved for their time and efforts. We couldn’t do this without you.

Katie Crimmins

Adoptions Outreach, Digital Content, Volunteer Coordinator

I was born and raised in Northern California before moving to Arizona in 2002 and then Arkansas in 2008. In 2025, my husband and I began a new chapter in Nuevo Nayarit, a place that quickly felt like home. Before retiring, I spent many years working in corporate sales and management, but moving to Mexico gave me the chance to slow down and choose work that felt more meaningful.

Not long after we arrived, I saw a Facebook post looking for volunteers for A Dog’s New Life. As a lifelong animal lover, I knew immediately it was the perfect fit. Today, I help with adoption events at the Marival Resorts and manage our dogs’ listings on adoption websites — work that brings me so much joy and purpose.

My husband and I are happily retired and love traveling, spending time outdoors, and enjoying life with our three dogs: Addie, Goose, and Hank. Our daughter, Savannah, currently attends college in London, England, and we’re incredibly proud of her and love visiting whenever we can.

Karen Chesson

Adoptions Coordinator, Shelter Operations, Board Member

Karen is an advocate for animal welfare. She has been helping the rescue for many years. It could not exist without her dedication. She takes on whatever role she needs at the time, including: rescuing, vet trips, photographer, coordinating adoptions and flights for the dogs and much more.

Today, she dedicates her time and skills to support the dogs of Mexico through A Dog’s New Life A.C. Helping those who can’t speak for themselves is more than a mission—it’s a dream fulfilled.

Karen and her husband live in Mexico with their 3 rescued dogs.
