On February 8, we welcomed Avicii into our rescue after a woman reached out for help. She had been camping near Playa Las Tortugas and found him completely alone on a remote road. She wasn’t sure if he had been hit by a car or was injured, but she knew she couldn’t walk away without him. A nearby yaca farmer told her Avicii had shown up a couple of weeks earlier — likely lost or abandoned. The kind man had been feeding him once a day ever since.
Avicii (named after the DJ) has a full-body twitch is the result of surviving distemper; something that could have been prevented with vaccination. This is a lifelong condition for him now, but it doesn’t slow his spirit one bit.
He is the sweetest boy, absolutely loves people, and has already shown he does great with other dogs. After a few days in a kennel, he’s now out in Area 2, running, playing and socializing.
Once he completes his full vetting protocol, he will be available for adoption.
