Black mouth cur mix-Male

Charro was first spotted May 2026 by one of our volunteers, near her home on the east side of Bucerias. She had never seen him before and thought he looked a bit disoriented. He was then seen running down the old highway and even out by the shelter one day. She continued to see him for the next two months, on/off. He started to look skinnier every time he was seen. He was then reported at the end of July, on the beach side of town, on “Del Charro” street. He was noticeably thinner so we knew he was likely abandoned and it was time to help.

At rescue he was very quiet and timid. He opened up pretty quickly at the shelter, likely finally feeling safe. He is showing his playful side and seems very loyal. His vetting protocols are now being started. He has a mouth “twitch” which would indicate he is a distemper survivor. His back left leg looks a little wonky so he may have been hit by a car a some point, but it doesn’t slow him down and his hardly noticeable. He is very sweet and it breaks our hearts to think he was abandoned, but he is now safe and we will find him the best family.
