gypsy

Female - Mixed Breed

Age: January 2022

On January 24, we received Gypsy into our care. She had been reported lying on the side of the road, unable to walk; yes, another one. Gypsy had been down for days in San Vicente, while people passed by, hoping someone else would step in and help her get to a vet. Gypsy tested positive for ehrlichia, but only a mild case. At first, we thought this might be the reason she wasn’t walking, but radiographs revealed a very small fracture in one of her hips. She is currently kenneled and on strict rest.

Although she’s not walking yet, her tail is wagging (a great sign!) and she has been attempting to stand. With more time and rest, we’re hopeful she’ll begin walking again.

Like so many of the dogs we rescue, Gypsy is underweight. Despite everything she’s been through, she’s incredibly sweet and absolutely loves visitors and attention. It’s hard when all they can do is lie there—but seeing her energy increase, her personality shine through, and those tail wags gives us so much hope for her recovery.

Gypsy will remain on bed rest for now. More updates coming soon on this cutie and her progress
