gypsy

Breed Appearance: Husky, Labrador Retriever, Shepherd

Female - Mixed Breed

Age: January 2024

On January 24, we received Gypsy into our care. She had been reported lying on the side of the road, unable to walk; yes, another one. Gypsy had been down for days in San Vicente, while people passed by, hoping someone else would step in and help her get to a vet. Gypsy tested positive for ehrlichia, but only a mild case. At first, we thought this might be the reason she wasn’t walking, but radiographs revealed a very small fracture in one of her hips. She spent time kenneled for strict rest. It’s hard when all they can do is lie there—but seeing her energy increase, her personality shine through, and those tail wags gives us so much hope for her recovery. She is a distemper survivor and has a slight mouth twitch.

With time and rest, she began walking again. Like so many of the dogs we rescue, Gypsy was underweight. Despite everything she’s been through, she’s incredibly sweet and absolutely loves visitors and attention. Gypsy is ready for her new home. She can be applied for now.
