Ivy came to us from Bucerias. Someone had posted about 7 puppies being born at a mechanic shop and not being taken care of. We were able to take 6 of them, including one who was paralyzed from a larger dog injuring him. One of the 7 was taken by someone who worked at the shop. Sadly, 4 of the 6 we received were quite sick and died from some sort of unknown virus (not parvo or distemper). The paralyzed pup flew to a special needs rescuer in the US so we now only have Ivy. She is as sweet as they come. Really great with dogs and humans. She playful but not over the top wild or rough. She loves sitting in the tub of water to cool off. She would be a great dog around kids too. She has so much love to give!

Ivy is marked as special needs, so her adopt fee would only be the flight cost. As a puppy, the litter all had a viral infection. The lymph nodes were swollen, as is the case with any infection. Somehow, her leg has stayed swollen. Sometimes it does reduce but most the time it stays swollen. She has seen multiple vets and nobody seems to know the cause of the swelling. Of course she has been on several rounds of prednisone but nothing has helped. She is currently on no medication nor does she seem to be in any pain. It does not affect her or slow her down at all. We know a vet in the US or Canada would likely want to perform many tests, which is why we have dropped her adopt fee down. We really would love to see her in a forever home because she’s so deserving. We just can’t say why her leg is the way it is. Any adopter must fully understand this.
