june
Female - Mixed Breed
Age: June 2022 | Weight: 16kg
June was spotted on the north side of Bucerias, by one of our volunteers, who works in that area. She had never seen her previously. It was clear she needed help, being extremely underweight and having TVT. TVT(transmissable venereal tumors) is a highly contagious STD many street dogs contract, when they aren’t spayed/neutered. It causes cancerous tumors on their body, starting on the genitalia, it can spread throughout the entire body. It’s extremely treatable with chemoptherapy. Most dogs need at least 6 treatments, but usually get 8-10. It is very rare for it to come back but we do recommend citology swabs every 6 months for two years.
June was rescued two days after she was first spotted. She was very scared and would run away from us. We posted her in a local facebook group, asking to be contacted if anyone saw her. On a Sunday, someone reported her inside their neighborhood coto. Thankfully she was in a park and we were able to get her cornered so she couldn’t escape. She has quickly warmed up to us and seems very sweet. She will start her chemotherapy by June 19th. We also discovered she is likely a distemper survivor. We did not notice any issues and she tested negative. But while she was having her belly rubbed and relaxing, she had a tick with her front left leg. Poor girl has been through way too much at her young age. We are very excited to get her healthy and into a home of her own! At this time we anticipate she will be ready for adoption by the end of August.
