Kanela is a beautiful, happy girl. She gets along well with most dogs but spends most her time playing with Kane. She is medium-high energy. Dog social but can be alpha at times to other females. She can also be unpredictable. She is marked special needs only because she’s a distemper survivor. It was discovered and treated early, at time of rescue in July 2020; before any symptoms started, so she has no effects or symptoms.
Kanela was adopted to Canada and we brought her back. The adopter was not able to be her alpha nor did she give her proper decompression time. And, unfortunately, they chose not to hire a trainer and asked us to take her back. She needs an alpha owner otherwise she will be the alpha and will be hard to control. She shouldn’t be in a home with small children because she can be unpredictable. She has never harmed anyone at the shelter but she knows we are her alphas. Highly recommend an owner with previous dog experience or she will run the show. An active owner, runner or hiker, would be great for her. She can’t live in a condo/apartment either. We will be very selective with a home for her since she has already been returned to us once. With us, she submits, often rolling on her back for belly rubs. She can be very sweet and really loves affection but she is not a dog just anyone can have.
