Kiké

(Pronounced Kee-kay)

Male-mixed breed

Age: January 2020 | Weight: 25kg

We were asked to help Kiké after a man has rescued him from the streets of La Misión. His rescuer Enrique, had seen him for a very long time with his condition continually deteriorating. Kiké had an owner. He was asked to surrender him and he would not, yet, he chose to not properly care for him. So one day, while roaming the streets, there was no more asking. He was picked up and that’s when we stepped in. His health was horrible when we received him. He was so malnourished, had erlichea and anemia, was full of fleas and ticks and was not using one of his back legs at all. After vet care, medication, proper care and food, Kiké has become quite a healthy dog! He will always have a bit of a limp or swagger, as it was an untreated old injury to his one back leg. But now he does bare weight and use it! He loves to be free; a home with space would be most ideal so he could roam around and lay in the sunshine; a yard, acreage(anything but an apartment or condo). He does ok around other dogs but is more on the alpha side. He’s been around many of our dogs but at times can decide to be unpredictable and start a fight. He would be best served as the only dog in a home. He is not a dog who will ever be a big walker or overly active. He loves people so much. Really he needs a home to give him love, care and a nice quiet environment! He is now fully ready for adoption.
