Lessie

Breed appearance: German Shepherd, Belgian Malinois, Terrier

Female - Mixed Breed

Age: February 2022 | Weight: 22kg

Lessie was tied to the fence, abandoned outside of the shelter with her mom and sister. She went to foster for a while but has been back at the shelter for quite a while. She would do best with room to run as she is scared when walking on the leash. Lessie is gaining confidence with walking on leash. She has been working with our volunteers and the trainer. The shelter is a bit loud and chaotic for her.

When she was in foster, her foster mom said, “You wouldn’t know it right away, but she is super goofy and even a bit awkward, always cartoonishly falling off the couch or bed while playing, only to bounce back up like nothing happened, and to also hope you didn’t notice. She is smart, quirky and endearing, and watching her gain confidence is so satisfying.” She isn’t a dog you can walk on leash as she is jumpy around loud sounds and barky dogs. She needs a big back yard or ranch or trail-hiking buddy. She does really well with other dogs and loves the beach. She was fully potty trained when with the foster but may need assistance finding a new routine in a new home.
