marmalade

Female - Mixed Breed

Age: August 2024 Weight: 10.2kg

Marmalade was rescued on Feb 28, 2025. One of our volunteers spotted her outside a grocery store in Bucerias with a man who did not look well. It was very evident the man was drunk and high. We offered a collar and leash, along with vet care. He agreed then changed his mind. She then was almost run over in the parking lot. After seeing him grab her by the collar and being rough, Karen (our volunteer) knew she wasn’t leaving without the puppy. It’s never a good idea to pay for dogs as it encourages people to steal them because they know they can make money. But on this day, she didn’t care. She offered him money for the dog and he relinquished her.

She had what we thought was a slight eye infection when she arrived. Our vet has tried different drops and creams on her eye with little success. He finally determined she doesn’t have a tear duct in her left eye, which is why it often appears goopy and cloudy. She may need drops her entire life but seems to tolerate them pretty well. She was covered in fleas when she arrived but, was overall healthy. She was spayed the same day as rescue because we happened to have a clinic that day! We did end up treating her for anaplasma (tick borne) and now she’s great. She seems to be your typical playful puppy and she absolutely loves people and does well with other dogs.We are guessing she will be about 25lbs when fully grown but we do not know her parents. She deserves a stable loving home and she’s ready to go!!
