Ozzie
Male-lab mix
Age: June 2011 | Weight: 24kg
Ozzie has been with us since June 2023, after being rescued from Mezcales. A passerby noticed him starving inside a patio and reached out for help. When we spoke with the owners, they explained that Ozzie was a distemper survivor who struggled to gain weight. They agreed to relinquish him into our care, giving him the chance at a better life.
Bloodwork revealed that Ozzie was suffering from erlichea and anemia, but with the right medications and a proper diet, he quickly began to thrive and put on healthy weight. He also carried an old injury in one of his back legs, and in December 2023 he underwent femoral head surgery to relieve his pain and help him move more comfortably.
Today, Ozzie is a happy, spirited dog who seems to love life at the shelter. He enjoys being around the other dogs, soaking up attention, and living free of the struggles he once faced. Ozzie will remain a cherished sanctuary resident, cared for and loved as he continues to enjoy his second chance at life.
