tai
Female-Parson Russell Terrier mix
Age: March 2015 | Weight: 15kg
Tai was brought to our attention off another facebook post. Someone had posted Mai as being abandoned and having TVT in their colony in Puerto Vallarta, but then also asked if we could help Tai. She was also in the streets with a horrendous tumor on her genitalia. Of course we said yes! She has TVT, transmissable venereal tumors, an STD in dogs which causes cancerous tumours across their body. She has already started her chemo and the changes in the tumor are truly amazing. What’s interesting about Tai, is she was already spayed(has the tattoo). So it’s likely she had TVT before being spayed but it didn’t present outside her body until later. She’s a senior, according to our vet, but she seems to be pretty active. She’s actually a BIG talker/moaner! She is so cute with the funniest personality. Even being older we know she’d love to be adopted and loved. She does great around the other two dogs she is kenneled with (who also have TVT). It’s very rare for TVT to return once a dog has finished treatment but we do recommend cytology follow ups every 6 months for 2 years; a simple swab any vet should be able to do, to check for cancer cells. She needed chemotherapy treatments but is now ready for adoption.
