Tajín
Male - Chihuahua // Pug mix
Age: November 2022 Weight: 6 kg
Tajín was found on the streets of La Misión in heartbreaking condition — dehydrated, emaciated, and barely clinging to life. When we rescued him, he was too weak to stand. He was diagnosed with ehrlichia and severe anemia, and we feared he might be blind. But after a week of intensive care at our vet and continued time with love at the shelter, his eyes are clearing up — and so did his future. His eyes do look cloudy but he can see.
UPDATE: Tajin is currently being fostered by one of our volunteers. He is house‑trained, leash‑trained, and full of charm. This little guy absolutely loves the company of humans. He can be a bit hesitant around standing or approaching men — after all, he’s a shorty — but he warms up with kindness and patience. He enjoys playing with his toys, taking short walks, and long naps. He has the cutest expressions. He looks intimidating when his little lip gets caught and his teeth show but his is a gentle funny little dog.
Tajin does well with dogs his own size and prefers to keep his distance from larger dogs and horses. We don’t know what he went through before he was rescued, but he does carry some fears of loud noises and big animals.
What we do know is that he will make a devoted, loving companion. Tajin feels his best when he has company and would be happiest in a home where someone is around often or where he has a friendly canine sibling to keep him feeling secure.
